Remembering Sister Peggy ByrnesPlease pray for the peaceful Sister Peggy Byrnes (Jan. 12, 1932 - Dec. 13, 2011) As Sister Peggy prepared to celebrate her 60th jubilee last year, she wrote about her motto. "'Fiat,' she said, was Mary's response to the angel when asked to be the Mother of God. 'Fiat' was my response as I read in John 15:9-17: "It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you...' As a Sister of Mercy, 'Fiat' has been a way (for me) to serve God's poor in so many ways." There was never a doubt that Sister Peggy was meant be a Sister of Mercy! Throughout her entire life, the sisters were always there. In fact, her first encounter with the sisters was at birth. |
